How does real-time reporting work?
Site Analytics uses real-time stats to track how your website visitors interact with your site.
Real-time stats JavaScript provides real-time information about your visitors, including which pages they visit and where they click — this information lets us generate "heat maps" of your pages. For more information, see Site Analytics Page Reports.
Log files provide different information about your website's visitors, including page errors, broken links, file accesses, resource types, and bandwidth usage. Unlike the information from real-time JavaScript, information from your log files updates daily.
To get the most information about your website's visitors, use real-time stats JavaScript with one of our hosting accounts. Real-time sites hosted locally let us do Hybrid processing. The JavaScript provides all of the page access and visitor information, which we then augment with file data from the access logs, once a day.
For more information, see Enabling Real Time Stats in Site Analytics.
