Publishing Your Web Site Using FrontPage

FrontPage will only publish "Webs" and not individual pages. If you create a Web and then build pages inside it you will be able to upload those pages using FrontPage. If not, you will need to create an empty Web and then copy your pages into it.

To build an empty Web, select File > New in FrontPage.

Once your pages have been saved in a FrontPage Web, you can publish them.

NOTE: Grid-based Web Hosting does not support FrontPage Extensions. To see if you're affected, click here.

To Publish Your website Using FrontPage

  1. Open FrontPage. From the File menu, select Publish Web.
  2. Enter the full publish destination URL, including the protocol, host, domain and tld. For example: http://www.coolexample.com.
  3. On the Publish Web window, click Options.
  4. Specify whether you want to publish only pages that have changed, or all pages.
  5. Click Publish.
  6. Enter your host user name and password and click OK.
  7. When you receive the success message, click Done.

NOTE: If your site uses advanced FrontPage features, like hit counters or forms, you must enable and upload using FrontPage extensions. For more information, see Installing FrontPage Extensions. If you upload using FTP (e.g., ftp://www.coolexample.com), files that use FrontPage extensions may become corrupt. This can be remedied by reinstalling the FrontPage extensions, and then uploading through the FrontPage or SharePoint Team Services in FrontPage.
