When you use the Google® products data feed in Quick Shopping Cart®, you might encounter errors with the automated feed or your products might expire. Use the following suggestions to correct possible errors.

Make Sure Your Categories Match the Google Product Taxonomy

The Google product taxonomy is a tree of categories that helps you generate values for the Google product category attribute.

Your categories within Quick Shopping Cart must exactly match Google's category path to the deepest category for your product.

For example, if you sell jeans on your storefront, you must first create a category entitled Apparel & Accessories. Within the Apparel & Accessories category, you must create a category entitled Clothing. Within the Clothing category, you must create a category entitled Pants. Within the Pants category, you must create a category entitled Jeans. Finally within the Jeans category, you can add your jean products. Your categories should follow this path: Apparel & Accessories > Clothing > Pants > Jeans.

To view Google's category path, see The Google product taxonomy.

NOTE: For more information on creating categories, see Working with Categories in Quick Shopping Cart

Once your categories match the Google product taxonomy, you must publish your storefront.

Review the Data Feed

You can review the data feed Quick Shopping Cart generates. The data feed is located in the dataexport directory of your storefront. For example, if your storefront domain name is mystore.com, the data feed file name is mystore_data_feed.xml and it's located at http://www.mystore.com/dataexport/mystore_data_feed.xml.

You can download and review this file to correct for errors. You can then upload the file directly to your Google Merchant Center account.

Prevent Your Products from Expiring After 30 Days

You can prevent your products from expiring after 30 days by publishing your storefront frequently. Otherwise, your products might expire from Google Product Search™. You can also prevent expiration by using a scheduled upload in Google Merchant Center. Use the instructions in Google's knowledgebase and supply the URL to your data feed.

Verify Your Quick Shopping Cart's Domain with Google Webmaster Tools

You must verify your Quick Shopping Cart domain through Google Webster's Tools. To do so, create a Google Webmaster account and use a verification meta tag. For more information, see Google's documentation.

If you set up your Google Product Search before verifying your site, click Set Up Data Feed in the Tasks section of the page, and then follow the instructions in Setting up Google Product Search with Quick Shopping Cart.
