Setting up DomainAlert Pro Backordering
If you want to capture a domain that someone else registered, you can place a backorder on the domain to attempt to register it if it becomes available, or, if it's listed for auction, it provides you with instructions on how to participate in the auction. When you configure the backorder, you set the backorder as public or private. Private backorders prevent your personal information from being listed in the Whois directory at any time during the backorder and registration process.
If the backorder is not successful, you can reassign it to another domain name.
To Set Up Domain Alert® Pro Backordering
- Log in to your Account Manager.
- In the My Products section, click Domain Manager.
- From the Buy/Sell menu, select Backorders and Monitoring.
- Click Add Backorders.
- Complete the following, and then click Next:
- Backorder type
- Use public or private information for the contact information listed in the Whois directory.
- I have read and agree to...
- Select if you read and agree to the Domain Name Back Ordering and Monitoring Agreement.
- Enter the domain name(s) you want to backorder, one domain name per line, and then click Next.
- Complete the following, and then click Next:
- Email address 1
- The email address to which you want to send status change notifications.
- (Optional) Email address 2
- Another email address to which you want to send status change notifications.
- Review the contact information to be used to register the backordered domain if it becomes available, make any necessary changes, and then click Next.
- From the Number of credits to use list, select the number of credits you want to apply, and then click Next.
NOTE: The number of credits in the list are the credits you have available for the transaction. If you do not have enough credits, you continue to your shopping cart to complete a domain backordering purchase. If you have not purchased a backorder, we add it to your cart. To complete setting up your domain backorder, continue through the checkout process.
- If you selected to use private registration, complete the following:
- Use existing account
- If you already have an account with Domains By Proxy®, enter your User ID and Password for the account.
- Create account
- If you do not have an account, we create a Domains By Proxy account for you. We send the user name and password in an email message after creating your account.
- I have read the Domain Name Proxy Agreement...
- Select if you read and agree to the Domain Name Proxy Agreement.
- Click OK.
