Here's the Lowdown: You can host multiple Web sites on your hosting plan. When you use a single hosting account to store multiple Web sites, each site is stored in a separate folder.

In this example, we're going to use our Deluxe hosting account for coolexample.com to host another domain, anothercoolexample.com. They will be separate sites.

NOTE: To host multiple Web sites, you must have a Deluxe or Unlimited hosting plan.

There are three steps to hosting multiple sites with one hosting account:

Add the Secondary Domain Name to Your Hosting Account

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. In the My Products section, select Hosting.
  3. Next to the hosting account you want to modify, click Manage Account.
  4. In the Settings section of the Hosting Control Center, click the Domain Management icon.
  5. Click Add Domain.
  6. Enter the domain name in the Domain field.
  7. Enter a new or existing folder in the Folder field. This is where the content for the new domain will reside.

All files for anothercoolexample.com should go into the anothercoolexample folder.
  8. Click OK.

Make Sure the Secondary Domain Name is Pointing to Your Hosting Account

If the domain you added to your hosting account is in the same customer account as your hosting account, you can skip this step. If your domain is elsewhere, you need to change your nameservers.

Contact your domain registrar and have them update the secondary domain's nameservers to the following:

If you added the secondary domain on or after July 27, 2009

  • ns25.domaincontrol.com
  • ns26.domaincontrol.com

If you added the secondary domain before July 27, 2009

  • NS51.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
  • NS52.DOMAINCONTROL.COM

NOTE: If you added the secondary domain before March 11, 2008, see Setting Nameservers for Your Domain Names to obtain the correct nameservers.

It can take 24-48 hours for the Internet to recognize these changes. Be patient.

Upload the Contents of the Web Site into the Correct Folder

Here's where Customer Service sees the most issues. To avoid these issues, remember that each Web site resides in its own folder—the one specified when you added the secondary domain.

Take a look at the following screenshot for more explanation:

To Upload to Your Secondary Domain

  1. Connect via FTP to the primary domain on the hosting account. In this example, that's coolexample.com. If you need assistance with FTP, see Uploading Files to Your Web Site.
  2. Browse to the folder you created for your new site. In this example, that folder is anothercoolexample.com.
  3. Upload the files for the new site into the correct folder.

That's it. Remember, if you just added the secondary domain to your hosting account, it can take 24-48 hours before you can see your changes on the Internet.
