How do I retrieve my email messages if I manage my DNS elsewhere?

If you're experiencing problems retrieving your email, please update your DNS zone file entries as follows:

NOTE: The settings used below depend upon the type of email account you purchased. Click here for help finding information on on your host names and MX settings. If your host names include 'europe.', you have a European email account.

MX Modifications:

Enter your MX record information as indicated in your Email Control Center.

CNAME modifications:

Be sure to map each indicated CNAME to the correct host depending upon the type of email account that you purchased. Each CNAME must include your own domain name in order to function correctly.

  1. Map mail.XXXInsertDomainHereXXX to the POP host name indicated in your Email Control Center.
  2. Map pop.XXXInsertDomainHereXXX to the POP host name indicated in your Email Control Center.
  3. Map imap.XXXInsertDomainHereXXX to the IMAP host name indicated in your Email Control Center.
  4. Map smtp.XXXInsertDomainHereXXX to the SMTP host name indicated in your Email Control Center.
  5. Map email.XXXInsertDomainHereXXX to one of the following:
    • Non-European email accounts — email.secureserver.net
    • European email accounts — email.europe.secureserver.net
  6. Map e.XXXInsertDomainHereXXX to one of the following:
    • Non-European email accounts — email.secureserver.net
    • European email accounts — email.europe.secureserver.net
  7. Map mobilemail.XXXInsertDomainHereXXX to one of the following:
    • Non-European email accounts — mobilemail-v01.prod.mesa1.secureserver.net
    • European email accounts — mobilemail.europe.secureserver.net
  8. Map pda.XXXInsertDomainHereXXX to one of the following:
    • Non-European email accounts — mobilemail-v01.prod.mesa1.secureserver.net
    • European email accounts — mobilemail.europe.secureserver.net
  9. Map webmail.XXXInsertDomainHereXXX to one of the following:
    • Non-European email accounts — webmail.secureserver.net
    • European email accounts — webmail.europe.secureserver.net

After your DNS provider has entered these records, please allow 4-8 hours for .COM and .NET domains and about 24-48 hours for all other domain extensions for these changes to complete.
