Working with Content Blocks in WebSite Tonight
Editing content blocks is quick and easy. The Page Designer Toolbar is divided into tabs to simplify the design process, helping you find what you need with ease. The Options section contains elements for working with content blocks. When you click on a block, the Options tab displays additional actions.
To Add a Content Block
- Log in to your WebSite Tonight® account.
- From the Design menu, click Page Designer.
- If necessary, from the Page list, select the page you want to edit.
- Click the container where you want to add the new content block. Containers are outlined in blue.
- Go to the Insert tab, and then select Block. Enter text and objects, and then click Save to close the block. You can always return later to make edits.
When you click on a content block, the Options tab displays with these options:
To Delete a Content Block
Deleting a content block permanently removes the entire block from your page.
- Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
- From the Design menu, click Page Designer.
- If necessary, from the Page list, select the page that contains the block you want to delete.
- Without clicking, move your mouse over the block you want to delete, and click the Delete icon.
- Click OK.
To Share or Add Shared Content to a Content Block
You can share any content block. Sharing lets you place the same content on multiple pages. Any changes you make to a shared block will affect all of the blocks that link together.
- Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
- From the Design menu, click Page Designer.
- If necessary, from the Page list, select the page that contains the block you want to share.
- Move your mouse to the block you want to share, and click on the block. The Options tab displays.
- Click Share.
- Create a new shared content block, or insert a block that you have already
created. Select one of these:
- Share Block
- Creates a new shared content block. In the Name field, enter a name for your shared content block, then click Create Shared Content.
- Select Shared Block
- Inserts existing shared content into the selected block. In the Content list, select the name of the content you want to insert, and then click Insert Shared Content.
- Click OK.
To Import Content to a Block
With WebSite Tonight, you can import content from one block into another. The blocks don't have to be on the same page. To import content you must make, or have made, a backup of your website. For information about backing up your website, see Backing up or Restoring Your Website.
- Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
- From the Design menu, click Page Designer.
- If necessary, from the Page list, select the page that contains the block you want to import to.
- Move your mouse to the block where you want to add imported content.
- On the Options tab, click Import.
- Select the content you want to import from the following fields:
- Select the Backup
- The version of your website that contains the content you want import
- Select the Page
- The page that contains the content you want to import
- Select the Block
- The block that contains the content you want to import
- Click OK.
To Clear a Content Block
Clearing a content block removes only the content of the block. The block remains.
- Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
- From the Design menu, click Page Designer.
- If necessary, from the Page list, select the page that contains the block you want to delete.
- Move your mouse to the block you want to clear, and click on the block. The Options tab displays.
- Click Clear.
- Click OK.
To Move a Content Block
You can move a content block anywhere on a web page.
- Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
- From the Design menu, click Page Designer.
- If necessary, from the Page list, select the page that contains the block you want to move.
- Move your mouse to the block you want to move, and select the Move button.
- Drag the block to the desired location on the page. Repeat as necessary.
To Move Content Block Up or Down
- Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
- From the Design menu, click Page Designer.
- If necessary, from the Page list, select the page that contains the block you want to move.
- Move your mouse to the block you want to move, and click on the block. The Options tab displays.
- Depending on the position of the content block, click Move Up or Move Down.
