Adding an SSL Certificate and Site Seal to Your WebSite Tonight Site
You can add an SSL certificate to your WebSite Tonight® site to provide visitors a secure connection when they submit information, such as payment or contact details. After your SSL is issued, you can select which pages you want to secure and how you want to display the SSL site seal.
Pages using the SSL certificate will use HTTPS instead of HTTP in the address. HTTPS is the secured version of the HTTP protocol.
Add an SSL Certificate to Your WebSite Tonight
- Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
- In the Tools and Resources area, click Hosting Settings.
- In the Account Summary section, next to SSL Status, click Purchase SSL Certificate.
- Follow the purchase process and any remaining instructions to request your SSL.
- If the SSL request is approved, you will receive an email letting you know it is installed.
When your certificate is signed and issued it is automatically associated with your WebSite Tonight account, and every page on your site will have SSL certification selected by default. If you don't want to secure every page, you can update the SSL settings in your WebSite Tonight account.
To Update SSL Settings for Your WebSite Tonight Account
- Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
- From the Manage menu, click Organize Site.
- Click the thumbnail of the page you want to edit.
- Select or deselect the Make this page Secure checkbox.
- You can repeat these steps for any other pages in your website.
After you add an SSL certificate to your website, you can display a site seal image on your site to show visitors that your website is secure. The site seal is an easy way to show your visitors that information they send through your website, such as payment or contact information, is secure.
There are two ways you can add a Site Seal to your Web pages: You can use the Page Designer to let WebSite Tonight automatically insert the site seal, or you can retrieve the site seal code and manually insert it into the content blocks where you want it to display. If you're confident editing the HTML in content blocks, you might find this method useful to adjust how the site seal displays on your site.
