When creating website content for your .MOBI domain, you must comply with the requirements and recommended best practices laid out in mTLD's (the global registry for the .MOBI top-level domain) dotMobi Mobile Web Developers Guide. You must create and log in to your account on the dev.mobi website before you can access the guide from the Registered Users Download page.

NOTE: You must log on to your account before you can access the Registered Users Download page.

The objective is to ensure that all .MOBI content is properly optimized for viewing on mobile devices, such as cell phones and Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs).

Mandatory requirements include:

  • XHTML Mobile Profile (XHTML-MP)
.MOBI website content must comply with the standards of the XHTML Mobile Profile markup language. XHTML-MP is a hypertext language designed specifically for mobile devices.
  • Second-Level Domain Site
.MOBI sites must implement a page at the second-level domain, such as a Web server that responds to HTTP requests to "coolexample.mobi" (in addition to www.coolexample.mobi).
  • No frames
Under no circumstances should .MOBI websites include frames.

Our WebSite Tonight website building tool allows you to easily build a mobile device–optimized website that complies with all of the mTLD .MOBI requirements and recommendations.
