Here's the Lowdown: By the end of these instructions, you'll have a Microsoft® Exchange email address set up at the domain name you specify.

When you first set up Hosted Exchange Email, you go through a wizard that helps you set up your Organization and one or multiple email addresses. After creating your Organization and email addresses, add your domain to the Organization and assign it to your email address(es).

NOTE: Because Hosted Exchange Email requires a change to your domain's MX records, it can take 24-48 hours for your first email addresses to set up. After the initial 24-48 hours passes, subsequent email addresses are set up within 15 minutes.

Getting Started

Get started by setting up your Organization and adding one or multiple email addresses. When you first set up your mailboxes, they are set up on a temporary domain. You can change the domain in the next step.

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. In the My Products section, click Email.
  3. Above the Email Accounts list, click Microsoft Email Plans.
  4. Next to the account you want to use, click Set Up Account. The Hosted Exchange Email Manager displays.
  5. Read the End User License Agreement, and then click Accept.
  6. In the Organization name field, enter your company, business, or organization name and click Next.
  7. Specify your user name and password. If necessary, indicate whether you are configuring a mobile mailbox.
  8. (Optional) Click the + below the Password field to add additional mailboxes.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Review your settings and click Finish.

Adding a Domain to Your Organization

Add your domain to your Organization to personalize your email addresses. Your Organization can use multiple domains.

To Add a Domain to Your Organization

  1. On the left, in the All Organizations list, click Domains for the Organization that you want to add a domain to.
  2. Click Add Domain and do one of the following:
    • Click Add a domain in this account and then select a domain from the list.
    • Click Add a domain Not in this account and then enter a domain in the field.
  3. Click OK.
  4. If you selected a domain in this account, click the checkbox for the domain and then click Update MX. Follow the prompts.

NOTE: If you are using a domain name not registered with us, or registered with us, but in a different shopper account, you need to update your MX record to the following:

    Priority - 0
    Host - @
    Goes To - presmtp.ex1.secureserver.net

MX records may take 24 to 48 hours to update.

  5. If you selected a domain in this same account, and you want to update your CNAME records, click the checkbox for the domain and then click Update DNS. Follow the prompts to create your Outlook Web Access URL as well as your Outlook Autodiscovery URL.

NOTE: If you are using a domain name not registered with us, or registered with us, but in a different shopper account, you need to update your CNAME records at your registrar.

    Outlook Autodiscover
    Host - Autodiscover
    Points To - autodiscoverredirect.ex1.secureserver.net

    Outlook Web Access
    Host - owa
    Points To - mail.ex1.secureserver.net

For every domain you use with Hosted Exchange Email, you need to update your MX record. You are not required to update your CNAME records, however, if you want to use Outlook Web Access and make setting up your email accounts easier with Autodiscover, it is recommended.

Assigning Your Domain to Your Email Address(es)

After adding your domain, you can assign it to your email address(es).

Assign Your Domain to Your Email Address(es)

  1. On the left, in the All Organizations list, click Mailbox for the Organization containing the email address you want to modify.
  2. From the Actions column, click Edit for the email address you want to modify.
  3. From the Domain list, select the domain you want to use for the email address.
