When to Sell a Virtual Dedicated Server vs. a Dedicated Server

Virtual Dedicated

Sell this option if the customer:
  • Needs 3rd party product installations or configurations
  • Needs root or admin (SSH/RDC) access
  • Concerned with price
  • Not concerned with using shared resources on the server
  • Not concerned with speed

Dedicated

Sell this option if the customer:
  • Needs 3rd party product installations or configurations
  • Needs dedicated resources, e.g. CPU or RAM
  • Needs root or admin (SSH/RDC) access
  • Needs faster speeds

When to Sell a Non-Managed Plan vs. a Managed Plan

Non-Managed Server

Sell this option if the customer:
  • Needs root or admin (SSH/RDC) access
  • Needs a non-supported application
  • Understands that they are responsible for updating standard software and installing any custom software on the server
  • Understands that they are responsible for the server's performance, security, and management
  • Understands that we provide limited free support for dedicated servers
  • Understands that support outside the limited free support may require custom support fees
  • Understands that free support does not include migration of an existing site

Managed Server

Sell this option if the customer:
  • Understands that they will not have root or admin (SSH/RDC) access
  • Understands all fees, both recurring and one-time
  • Understands Free Services vs. Paid Services
  • Understands provision/reprovision options
  • Understands Expert Hands' benefits
  • Understands and agrees to the migration terms of service
